Junior was very excited to start taking music lessons at school, but he couldn't decide what instrument to play.

"What instrument should I play?" he asked his mom.

"I like music that swings," she said. "Jazz suits me."

Junior's mom explained that jazz musicians often wear cool sunglasses. They play curvy brass saxophones that trill, trill! They play piano keys that clink, clink, clink!

"What do you think, Dad?" asked Junior.

"Well, son," Junior's dad said. "I like music that sings. Classical music suits me."

He explained that classical musicians often wear fancy tuxedos and perform in the world's most beautiful places. They play violins that hum, hum! They play shiny silver flutes that chirp, chirp, chirp!

"This is a hard decision," Junior said. "There are so many different instruments, and they all seem great! I like the snap of jazz. I like the sway of classical music, too. What should I do?"

Junior turned to his Grandma. "What do you think, Grandma?" he asked.

"I love all kinds of music," Grandma replied.

"But what instrument do you like best?" Junior asked.

"All instruments sound beautiful when they are played well," Junior's grandma said with a wink. "If you pick the instrument YOU love most and you practice hard, you cannot go wrong."

The next day Junior and his family visited the music store. Junior tried out all of the instruments. He tried the shiny metal ones and the smooth wooden ones. He tried instruments that chirped and hummed, clinked and trilled. Then Junior remembered Grandma's advice.

"This is the instrument I like most!" Junior said with a boom, boom, boom!

"What a wonderful choice," Grandma said with a smile. "I'm sure these drums will be delightful. The drums are a personal favorite of mine, too!"

Junior decided he loved the drums.
