Minds Behind HowStuffWorks.com Podcasts Take Fans Behind the Microphones
ATLANTA - August 31, 2010 This week, thousands of sci-fi enthusiasts will overtake Atlanta to celebrate the 24th annual Dragon*Con, billed as the world's largest multimedia and pop culture convention. This year's lineup includes "HowStuffWorks.com Podcasts: From Medici Murders to Linux and Lightsabers," in which panelists will discuss how any subject can be brought to life through dialogue and fan interaction. HowStuffWorks.com panel members include:
- Tracy V. Wilson, FanStuff - Wilson will lead the panel as moderator. She is the Web Site Director for HowStuffWorks.com and writes the FanStuff blog. She also created "The Dragon*Con Survival Guide," which includes transportation tips, ideas for costume upkeep and photos from previous years. "The team is enormously excited about Dragon*Con and happy for the opportunity to be part of the podcast track," says Wilson. "Our listeners will get a behind-the-scenes look into how we choose, research and record podcasts, and we'll take some time to answer questions from the audience as well."
- Katie Lambert and Sarah Dowdey, Stuff You Missed in History Class - History class may have been bland in high school for some, but Lambert and Dowdey use their blog and podcast, which is currently the top-rated history podcast on iTunes, to spice things up, taking on subjects like the Wild West, the Medici murders, Atlantis and Hitler.
- Chris Pollette and Jonathan Strickland, TechStuff - From Facebook and Google to ghost hunting technology and fiber optics, Pollette and Strickland are a source for everyone from "n00bs" to tech geniuses. TechStuff is currently ranked the No. 1 technology podcast on iTunes.
Dragon*Con attendees can check out the podcaster panel on Sunday, Sept. 5, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hilton hotel, room 204. The Hilton hotel address is 255 Courtland St. NE, Atlanta, GA 30303.
