Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6200 top-loading washer
Date Published: 4/30/07
There's no need to spend a fortune on a front-loading washing machine when Whirlpool's good-looking, top-loading Cabrio WTW6200 can save you a fistful of money. This high-efficiency model exceeds Energy Star standards while also offering the technological benefits of front-loaders in a convenient, easy-loading top-lid machine.
Like all the Cabrio models, the WTW6200 relies on new technology to increase the drum capacity. This model is rated at 3.8 cubic feet, referred to by Whirlpool as ultra capacity. Borrowing technology from the more expensive Whirlpool Duet models, this Cabrio machine offers a direct-inject wash system and sixth sense technology. The direct-inject system pre-treats stains and loosens soil through a process that forces detergent into fabrics before the actual wash cycle begins. The sixth sense technology awakens sensors that select the optimal water temperatures and ensure that water is used in the most efficient manner.
The WTW6200 offers seven wash cycles and four temperature settings. If the temperatures you require are not offered, step up in the Cabrio line to next model and you'll find 10 wash cycles and a five temperature options. The Cabrio WTW6200, like all the Cabrio units, is equipped with Whirlpool's quietest wash system -- the Quiet Wash System Plus Noise Reduction.
We recommend this model based on its attractive price and value-packed features. Spending a bit more on one of the other Cabrio models will allow you to add some non-essential features, such as a see-through glass lid or an exterior finish other than white. For our purposes, Whirlpool WTW6200 -- in its basic form -- offers the best value for the dollar.
Pros: Excellent capacity, efficient operation, good value for the money
Cons: Can be expensive to repair the more sophisticated technology
