While most current SACD players also have DVD capabilities, the Sony SCD-CE595 is a high-resolution audio player dedicated to the SACD format. Actually, this is a five-disc changer, and that only adds to the appeal. Considering that just a few years ago a dedicated SACD player cost over $5,000, the value of the SCD-CD595 is obvious.

The SCD-CE595 can play SACD and CD, as well as CD-R and CD-RW. It will display SACD Text and CD Text information from properly encoded discs. It has a 5.1 channel analog RCA output, a two-channel RCA output, and an optical digital output that only works with CD, as SACD output appears on the 5.1 channel analog outputs.

The SACD playback performance is incredible, with a frequency response of 2Hz to 50,000Hz and a dynamic range of over 100dB. CD performance is as good as it can get, with a frequency response of 2Hz to 20,000Hz. Supplied with a competent remote control, the SCD-CE595 is an excellent SACD changer.
