Motorola E51 5.8GHz Cordless Phone System
Date Published: 5/1/07
The Motorola E51 5.8GHz Cordless Phone System offers good performance and a network of handsets. Able to accommodate four handsets and a base station, the E51 immediately creates a multi-extension telephone system. Each handset has a built-in speakerphone and the ability to page and transfer calls to the other extensions. Meanwhile, the base station has a built-in answering machine with three mailboxes, so you can keep your voicemails separate from other family members.
The handsets each have 10 ring tones, which can be used to identify callers, or you can use the more standard method since Caller ID and Call Waiting ID are both supported. Outgoing calls can be made from the 50-entry telephone book and are transmitted using 5.8GHz frequencies, so you do not have to worry about Wi-Fi interference. Meanwhile, power is supplied by an NiMH battery, so you can forget about memory effect. The design of the overall product is not particularly exciting, and the handsets are small, making it difficult to cradle the phone against your neck. Otherwise, the Motorola E51 5.8GHz Cordless Phone provides solid service and a lot of versatility.
Pros: three mailboxes, no Wi-Fi interference, price
Cons: small handsets
