The Kiesel Messenger Style MX500 camera bag is one of several capable versions of the Messenger Series of professional bags offered by this relatively new firm. Like pro bags from other manufacturers, this model is extremely adaptable and versatile, so it will easily accommodate a sizeable quantity of most any size photo gear and safely transport it in the field.

What sets this bag apart from the rest is it also has a padded sleeve pocket along the back that's large enough to hold up to a 17-inch laptop computer; and this pocket in turn has smaller pockets for multiple computer accessories, such as CDs, cords, etc. The primary camera storage area is rather vertical and narrow front to back, so in addition to the normal top access flap there is also a front flap that zips open to permit easy access to rows of adjustable equipment pockets inside. To keep the contents secure, there are both zippers and Velcro closures on the top/front flap along with both front and end snap buckle fasteners.

The unusually large front flap zips open to reveal a large storage area; the storage space is adequate in size for 8.5x11-inch papers or notebooks and has subdivided shallow pockets on the front. The zippers are large and operate easily, and each has a handy dangling pull tab for simpler use. An extra-wide shoulder strap is well padded and removes easily via a buckle at each end. A large rubberized padded carrying handle is permanently attached to the top flap. The bag seems to be well made, with excellent fine detail in the stitching and assembly.
