"I can’t remember where I heard of this, but I watched a video (possibly NOVA) about this guy who wants to freeze excess CO2 into dry ice, carve it into a torpedo shape, and send it careening to the bottom of the ocean. I guess at a certain depth, the pressure prevents the CO2 from bubbling off and kind of locks it in forever. His theory is that it will embed itself into the ocean floor and that there’s plenty of room down there for all of it. He’s been testing it, but it seems to me that it’s really just asking for some sort of “Oh my God the oceans are contaminated” scare in the future.. "

"Instead of mining and using coal, we can empty out our landfills (which are not so good for the ground water) and put the stuff through a simple process of pyrolysis, where the matter is cooked without oxygen, causing it to become usable fuel and activated charcoal. This charcoal can then be filtered and used in agricultural soils to hold plant nutrients such as water, fertilizers and bacteria. Since this charcoal is almost purely carbon, it is an ideal way to capture the carbon and use it to improve agricultural yields. "

"OK, but how ethical is it for us to use crops for fuel when there are millions starving across the globe? I mean, I’m actually asking. Is most of this fuel coming from crops that could be used for food instead? Also, what kind of impact would this have on our already buckling agricultural system here in America? "

"Well there is always the possibility of using old cooking for fuel; all you have to do is refine it. "
