The Alen A350 Air Purifier is designed for those plagued by allergies and asthma. It can clear air of dust, pollen, mold and other allergens. It's effective up to 800 square feet, but we recommend using it in spaces about half that size for greater air exchange and, therefore, effectiveness.

Unlike other air purifiers we've tested, the Alen A350 can be wall-mounted. It weighs just 16 pounds, and is a slim 8-1/2-inches wide. The Alen A350 uses only one filter, but it is a combination pre-filter, HEPA filter and carbon filter. This combination filter will need to be replaced every six months. We are pleased to report that it won't cost a bundle to replace the filter (about $40), and it is a simple job to remove the old filter and put the new one in its place.

We like the four speed settings and the 12-hour timer that automatically shuts off the air purifier if one is away from home or simply forgets to flip the switch. The Alen A350 Air Purifier even has a filter change indicator. Another nice feature are the touch-button controls and accompanying digital display.

While a few air purifiers we've encountered have the subtlety of a cargo plane during take-off, the Alen A350 Air Purifier is more refined. It runs quietly, even on higher speeds, and has a streamlined look we like. However, if you are not a fan of the blue faceplate, you're out of luck. The Alen A350 Air Purifier comes standard with this color, and no other options, so this can be a deterrent for some buyers. We also don't like the fact that the Alen A350 Air Purifier only has one filter. Although this one filter combines the three types of filters we often see in other models, we can't help but wonder if this combination is as effective as three separate filters. That said, the Alen A350 seemed to clear the air of odors and allergens without complaint.
